1 Importing United Streaming Files:

1. Download the movie clip from United Streaming

    • go to the United Streaming site: http://www.unitedstreaming.com
    • select the clip you wish to download
    • click on the and choose "Save Target As..."

2. Open Windows Movie maker and view the following screen:

3. Make sure that the Tasks Button has been selected.

4. Choose Import Video from the Capture Video menu.

5. A dialog box will appear asking where the video you wish to import is located:

6. Choose the file and click on the Import button.

7. If you want Movie Maker to automatically divide your clip into smaller clips, check the "Create clips for video files box at the bottom of the page. If you want the clip to be imported as one single clip, leave the box unchecked.

8. The imported clip(s) will appear in the center of the screen (in this case "Icemanedit")::

2. Editing United Streaming Files:

1. Move the clip to the timeline by grabbing the clip with the mouse and dragging it into the storyline or timeline.
2. Click on Show Timeline (the last item in the window next to the blue arrow above).

3. The Storyline will change to the Timeline. (Notice the change in the picture below).

4. Edit the clip by either dragging the inpoint/outpoint handles or selecting the clip to view in the viewing window. (Notice the red arrows below).
5. Another way to set in and out points is to set the viewer (the large window on the right in the above picture) at the frame you wish to be the inpoint, choose Set Start Trim Point (Ctrl+Shift+I) -- (see blue arrow below) from the Clip Menu (next to the green arrow in the above picture). Then move the frame you wish to be the outpoint and choose Set End Trim Point (Ctrl+Shift+O) --(see the red arrow below).

3. Adding Transitions:

1. Choose View Video Transitions from the Edit Movie Menu (If the Movie Tasks window is not open, click on the Tasks Button).

2. If the Storyboard is not in view, click on Show Storyboard.

3. Choose a transition from the list. Drag the transition to the transition space.

4. Adding Titles/Credits:

1. Choose Make Titles or Credits from the Movie Tasks Menu (If the Movie Tasks window is not open, click on the Tasks button).
2. Choose from the list that appears on the screen and follow the on-screen directions:

5. Saving the Edited Clip:

1. Find the Finish Movie section in the Movie Tasks Menu. Click Save to my computer and follow the directions to save the clip. After the clip is saved, you will be able to import it into PowerPoint or other programs.

6. Extras:

  1. Set Audio Levels -- provides a slider to adjust audio levels between a microphone and the clip audio
  2. Narrate Timeline -- allows a voice over narration of a clip by using this:window:
  3. Zoom In Timeline -- makes the timeline larger in the viewer
  4. Zoom Out Timeline -- makes the timeline smaller in the viewer
  5. Rewind Timeline -- brings the shuttle back to the beginnning of the movie
  6. Play Timeline -- plays the movie
  7. Split Clip Tool -- splits the clip into two clips at a specific frame.
  8. Take Picture -- makes a "freeze frame" still of a particular frame
